SolidDrive® transforms any solid surface (such as drywall, glass, wood, or fiberglass) into a sound source. The powerful SolidDrive directly transfers acoustic energy to the surface it’s mounted to, creating a large and dynamic sound field. With no visible wires or grilles, SolidDrive gives you the freedom to have Sound without Speakers.

Since SolidDrive resonates over a large surface area, loss of volume over distance is roughly 35% less than with conventional speakers. This low distance factor, combined with SolidDrive’s 120˚ ultra wide coverage angle, means you’ll experience remarkably even sound coverage throughout the entire room. + View Product Guide

Digital Signage

SolidDrive is widely used for digital signage in museums, interactive exhibits, touch screen directories, trade show exhibits, and self-help kiosks. The unit is generally mounted inside or behind the display – it only takes moments to install and remains completely invisible to the end user. SolidDrive resonates the entire surface on which it’s installed, so your audience is treated to clean, full-range sound that emanates from the entire display. There’s no better solution for digital signage – SolidDrive makes an impression that just can’t be replicated with traditional speakers.

Sound Masking

Sound masking introduces a constant, unobtrusive noise that “masks” distracting sounds and conversations, giving
off the impression of a much quieter space. Popular in cubicle spaces and hospitals, it’s been shown to increase
worker productivity and privacy, while reducing employee stress. However, common sound masking systems use traditional loudspeakers – which create “hot” and “cold” spots throughout the room. SolidDrive does not. In addition, SolidDrive is easier to install, uses less amplification, and doubles as an effective paging/background music system.

Windows&Glass

Window Applications

SolidDrive has been utilized for window displays both commercially and in the home. An SD1g unit will turn both sides of a window pane into a planar speaker; the sound will radiate equally on both sides of the glass. The unit will not fall off, nor can it be casually pulled off the glass due to 3M VHB double-stick tape (be certain of your SolidDrive location on the window before committing to the tape! It can be removed with alcohol, but the tape won’t be reusable). The SolidDrive will provide equal output over the entire surface from almost any placement; 4 – 6 inches (10 – 15 cm) from the corner is optimal.

Residential

Your client’s home is his/her space – so keep it that way! SolidDrive is the world’s first invisible, high-fidelity solution for home theater. By utilizing walls, windows, cabinets, and countertops, you won’t have to worry about matching external speakers to their décor. With it’s wide, even sound field, SolidDrive performs equally well for surround-sound movies in a theater room as it does for stereo music playback in a kitchen or garage. Need extended bass response for bass-heavy music or movies? The IW200 in-wall subwoofer with paintable grilles easily blend in with the décor of any room.

SD1 Drywall Bracket

sdi-bracket_small
Patented balanced cantilever spring brackets are required for installations behind drywall. The mounting backet eliminates stress and torque by holding it against the drywall with proper pressure. Brackets are available for 12, 16, and 24 inch on-center studs.

Passive Wood, Drywall, & Glass EQ

DrywallEQ_small
Passive EQ modules are designed to smooth out the frequency response and optimize the sound of the SD1, SD1g, and SD1sm for the type of surface to which they are attached. One module is needed for each SolidDrive Unit. Note: Not needed if using SD-250.

SolidDrive Heat Fins

HF_bl_small
Optional heat sink fins clamp aroud the drive to disperse heat. Heat sink fins are recommended in hot-weather locations and in applications where the SolidDrive is attache to a small surface area.
